Matthew Fordham

Director,
Crank

Matt Fordham has over a decade’s experience working on leading-edge sustainability projects in New Zealand and advocating for significant improvements in the built environment’s sustainability outcomes.

They founded and lead Crank, a consultancy that delivers innovative transport projects focused on getting more people to choose more trips by walking and cycling. Over 2021-2022 the team at Crank have managed the delivery of tactical urbanism projects at more than 20 sites across the North Island, while looking for opportunities within Councils for process-change to make tactical urbanism delivery more streamlined over time. Their contribution on these types of projects includes setting project strategy and methodology, leading multidisciplinary project teams, process innovation, and managing complex stakeholder relationships that span community groups, elected Councillors, and local and central government teams.
